This guide will go over how to unlock Quantum Drones in Slime Rancher 2, your main way of automating tasks in both the Conservatory and out in the world.
Unlocking Drones
You wont be able to get drones right from the start, since you'll need to find a Ghostly Drone first. A guaranteed Ghostly Drone can be found in the first set of Conservatory expansions (Archway, Den, and Gulley.) It will float around between these areas, occasionally stopping for a few seconds. Some drones can also be found floating around the world — we found one in the Grey Labyrinth's Terrarium section.

If you interact with the Ghostly Drone, you'll obtain a Drone Station Module. These are used as one of the components for Quantum Drone Stations, crafted at the Fabricator. In total, you'll need:
- 100 Flutter Plorts (Flutter Slimes can be found in Starlight Strand)
- 15 Lava Dust (Lava spouts in Ember Valley)
- 15 Wild Honey (Striped beehives in Starlight Strand)
- 3 Strange Diamonds (A rare spawn in caves)
- 1 Drone Station Module (From Ghostly Drones)
- 5000 Newbucks
Drone Types
Quantum Drone Stations can be placed using build mode (default T key on PC), either in the Conservatory or any other section of the map — they'll be listed as Rancher Mode while in the Conservatory, and Explorer Mode when placed anywhere else.
By interacting with the station, you can program the drone to do different things. In the Conservatory, you can move around Plorts, vegetables, fruit, and meat. This can be to feed Slimes, make money, or just get rid of things you don't need. When selecting a target for the drone, you can set a specific item or a category.

Meanwhile, Explorer Mode Drones can only acquire items. This includes everything from stray plorts to crafting materials (very helpful for getting more Strange Diamonds.) Items obtained this way are set to the Quantum Cloud, which can be access from any Drone Station.
Items stored in the Quantum Cloud can be withdrawn to your inventory, sold on the Market, or sent to the Refinery directly from the Quantum Cloud at stations. You can also view the Quantum Cloud from the map screen, though you can't do anything with the items.
Drones are recharged using any type of Plort. It's possible to view their current charge via a Drone Station, or on the map. Charge will not be used on Drones that aren't programmed or have nothing currently to do.
