What Are Spirit Abilities?
Voyagers of Nera Spirit Abilities are essentially magic powers that can be used in combat or to make getting around the world easier. You won't have any Spirit Abilities at the start of the game, but you'll gradually gain access to more and more of them as you progress through the game.
Spirit Abilities are divided into two categories: Major Spirit Abilities and Minor Spirit Abilities. Major Spirit Abilities are casted spells that have a cooldown, and Minor Spirit Abilities are passive effects.
You can equip Spirit Abilities at the Spirit Anchor once you've unlocked them. A maximum of two Major Spirit Abilities and two Minor Spirit Abilities can be equipped at a time.
How to Unlock Spirit Abilities
You can unlock Spirit Abilities by rescuing Guide Spirits throughout the world. A handful of Guide Spirits unlock new items on the Knowledge Tree, but most Guide Spirits will unlock a single new Major or Minor Spirit Ability.
What Are Forms?
Forms are special transformations that buff your character with new or enhanced abilities for a short duration.
How to Unlock Forms
You can unlock Forms by awakening an Elder Spirit; this is accomplished by collecting the three Elder Spirit shards from all three ruins in a region and awakening the Elder Spirit at a special temple in the region.
Once an Elder Spirit has been awakened, you must build a special Shrine at your base. You can only place one of each Shrine in the world.
Voyagers of Nera Forms List
There are currently three Forms in the Early Access launch version of Voyagers of Nera:
- Oceanform: Unlocked in The Embrace, this Form increases your swimming speed, skimming speed, and oxygen capacity.
- Windform: Unlocked in The Reef, this Form increases your run speed and gliding speed.
- Earthform: Unlocked in The Greatwood, this Form increases your defenses and makes your shields stronger..

Here is a list of all of the Voyagers of Nera Spirit Abilities as of the Early Access launch version of the game.
Major Spirit Abilities
- Wellspring: Summon a ring of healing water, restoring health to all allies within its radius.
- Spiritfire: Surround yourself with searing flame, burning nearby enemies over time.
- Earthen Ward: Create a protective circle that boosts the defense of you and nearby allies while standing within it.
- Lightning Shot: Fires a long-range bolt of lightning that deals damage to the first target it strikes.
- Fireblast: Hurl a blazing fireball that explodes on impact or at the end of its path, scorching all enemies in the blast radius and igniting them.
- Tailwind: Summon a powerful gust of wind, boosting the speed of your boat for a short time and increasing the movement speed of nearby players.
- Spirit's Breath: Create a pocket of air at your location, letting you and nearby allies breathe underwater for a short time.
- Reform: Upon taking fatal damage, you are encased in protective stone that slowly restores your health. When you emerge, your defense is significantly increased for a short duration.
- Windswell: Harness the power of the wind to generate a temporary updraft at your location, allowing you to boost into the air with your glider.
- Earthshatter: Shatter the ground beneath you, dealing damage and stunning all nearby enemies.
- Rejuvenate: Restores health to all nearby allies with a lasting healing effect.
- Nera's Bounty: Collects all nearby large resource nodes. The range of gatherable node types expands with more powerful spirit foci equipped.
Minor Spirit Abilities
- Stone Stance: Root yourself like the earth beneath you. If you haven't dodged recently, you have increased defense until your next dodge.
- Windsurge: Each attack has a chance to unleash a burst of wind, restoring a portion of your stamina.
- Healing Tide: While swimming, the healing touch of the sea restores health over time.
- Rain Stance: Each attack has a chance to call forth healing waters, restoring a portion of your health.
- Guiding Spirit: Your spirit companion glows at night, providing visibility based on its element.
- Ocean's Favor: Increases swim speed and reduces swim sprint stamina cost.
- Wind's Favor: Increase sprint speed and reduces stamina cost while sprinting.
- Mark of the Deep: Increases your damage output as your corruption increases.
- Flame Stance: Attacks have a chance to deal additional fire damage, scorching enemies with intense heat.
- Afterburn: Increase your critical hit chance for a short time after dodging.
- Nature's Guard: Heals for a percentage of your maximum health when blocking. Effect is doubled for parries.
- Stonebearer: You draw strength from the eath itself, greatly increasing the weight you can carry.
- Quick Shot: Your bow attacks charge faster and arrows move faster.
