The Nurturer of Shadows is the follow-up quest to Hexomany 101 in Palia. This is where the bulk of the work is done to earn yourself a free pet, currently the only one available outside the Premium Shop. You'll mainly be running errands for Tamala, gathering various ritual ingredients for her. This is how to complete all steps in The Nurturer of Shadows and get a free pet in Palia.
Palia | The Nurturer of Shadows Walkthrough
The first part of The Nurturer of Shadows is gathering ingredients to repel the Echo surrounding the object. You'll need to obtain:
- Soon Tofu x1
- Midnight Floatfish x1
- Elderflower x1
- Cave Piksii x3

When you have the ingredients, return to Tamala. She'll give you a recipe for Whitestone Votive, as well as another list of items to collect. You're to collect these materials while she works on the amulet.
- Whitestone Votive x10
- Infected Essence x3,500
- Ancient Koi x3
- Floatfish Mushroom x15
This is the most intense part of the quest. Not only do you need to gather a lot of items and craft multiple votives, but you also need a large amount of Echo. We have a full guide on farming Infected Essence to help you with this task.

Craft the Whitestone Votives at the workbench. Each one requires:
- Whitestone Brick x1
- Plant Fiber x1
- Starred Batterfly Beans x1
Head back to Tamala to set up the ritual around the object when you have all the necessary items. The cursed energy will go into the mushrooms, revealing the item as a broken down Galdur Pup. With little knowledge on the Galdur, she sends you to the Gardener to learn why the pup hasn't awoken.
Go to the Temple of the Roots in Bahari Bay to speak with the Gardener. He's intrigued by the Galdur pup that you describe and gives you his hub, allowing him to inspect what you describe. He also gives you a Candy Egg. Return to the Elderwood Central Stables and place the hub near the pup's area, indicated by the shimmering circle.

After investigating the damaged pup himself, the Gardener states it can be fixed. He'll give you a list of materials needed to make the repairs.
- Platinum Bar x2
- Palium Bar x5
- Citrine x1
- Flow-infused Wood x30
When you have the items, speak with the Gardener via his hub to begin fixing the pup. He guides you through the process and even though it's successful, the pup doesn't come to life. Upon examination, the Gardener ends communication and refuses to assist further, offering you a Candy Egg instead. Go back to the Gardener and demand to know what he learned. At the end of the conversation he sends you off with another Candy Egg.
Tamala suggests that the Galdur Pup is merely sleeping, not wanting to be woken up because it doesn't feel amazing. Pointing you in the direction of Kilima Village, you're next task is to ask some of the villagers what they turn to for comfort. All your friends can give their input, but the three people you're looking to speak with are: Badruu, Einar, Jel.

Once you finish speaking with the trio, you'll be assigned the last set of items you need to retrieve in this questline.
- Elderwood Lotus x3
- Umbraan Betta x1
- Elderwood Pie x1
- Silk x4
The Elderwood Pie, like the Soon Tofu, is meal for Tamala rather than a gift for the Galdur companion. You'll need an Oven, Prep Station, and Mixing Station to make the dish. It requires:
With the requested items in hand, interact with the Galdur Pup to place them around it. The energy within the pup will awaken, though you can't understand what it's trying to say. Chat with Tamala to complete The Nurturer of Shadows and obtain the Platinum Galdur Pup free pet. This automatically adds the next quest in the series, Home and Back Again, to your log. You'll need to finish that quest to unlock courier function for your new mechanical friend.
