Borderlands 4 publisher 2K and developer Gearbox have called the game's PC performance their "top priority", promising to release more updates that address issues commonly identified by the game's player base.

In a post on social media, the two studios open by saying that "millions" of players have checked out Borderlands 4 so far, which, given that the game didn't debut on any subscription services, likely means it's already sold very well indeed.

However, 2K and Gearbox also say they're "reading every piece of feedback" given to them by players, and that PC players are still "running into bugs and crashes". That's despite Gearbox head and mouthpiece Randy Pitchford describing the game's performance as "pretty damn optimal" last weekend.

Another PC performance update is scheduled to drop today, 2K and Gearbox say, describing PC performance as their "top priority". If Borderlands 4 isn't running smoothly for you on PC, you might want to check it out again after the update.

Console players aren't being left behind on this front, either. Gearbox says it's testing a field of view slider for consoles, with more info on the way "very soon". Additionally, the studio is investigating reports of performance issues on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and updates are being planned for those platforms as well.

The two studios close by thanking players for playing Borderlands 4, and announcing that the Break Free Pack, which contains a set of new cosmetics, has been released for all players by way of further thanks for picking up the game.

If you're unfamiliar with Borderlands 4, it's not the fourth Borderlands game, but it is the fourth mainline title in the looter shooter franchise. It's an open-world game that offers the series' usual mixture of outlandish weapons, skill and build customization, and plenty of loot.

You can check out Borderlands 4 right now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
